What is Ashtanga Yoga? Simply put, Ashtanga Yoga is a series of postures designed to detoxify and strengthen the mind and body. The Ashtanga practice combines breath and movement (vinyasa) which links a specific posture sequence, along with deep breathing (ujayi), concentrated eye gazing (drishti) and internal energetic seals (bandhas). Together, these elements of Ashtanga create a purifying internal heat that helps improve circulation and endurance, creates a strong and healthy body, and enables the practitioner to develop a calm and balanced mind.
Those of us who teach at Florence Yoga are personally committed to the ancient practice of Ashtanga Yoga, and are happy to provide classes to meet every level of ability.
