Welcome to Florence Yoga,
an Ashtanga Yoga Studio serving the Northampton, MA community. 

Ashtanga Yoga is a therapeutic series of postures designed to open and strengthen the mind and body. One of the original forms of Hatha Yoga practices to arise out of India, it combines a traditional posture sequence with deep breathing to create wellbeing, strength and flexibility in body, mind and spirit. 

Because your health and personal growth are important to us, our Ashtanga classes and Workshops are taught with compassion and lightheartedness by highly trained, dedicated teachers. If you have ever felt discouraged in a yoga class, or been confused about what to do, than Florence Yoga may be the answer. Our classes are accessible to people of all ages, shapes and levels of fitness. We take the time to help you establish your practice, showing you how to do yoga in a way that's suited for your body. And, we teach you how to integrate the practice into your daily life, helping you develop a consistent self-practice that can sustain you for the rest of your life. 

Florence Yoga is the only studio in the Valley that teaches yoga in this way - in the Mysore style method. Like private yoga in a supportive community setting, Mysore style Ashtanga is a self-empowering way of learning how to do yoga. It addresses each student as an individual, vs. as a group of students. Your practice is based on your needs - not the needs of the group or level of the other students practicing with you. If you want a workout, you can definitely find it in Mysore class! But, if you need to go easy because of injury or fitness issues, Mysore class offers you space to explore carefully, too. And, in every Mysore class, you will gain insights and be given direct guidance suited to your body and your practice. From there, you can apply what you've learned in all the classes offered at Florence Yoga. 

You don't have to be fit or flexible to start practice with us - you just have to have the desire and commitment to learn. Join our welcoming community of yoga practitioners, and enjoy the benefits of a resilient body, calm mind and flourishing spirit.

Memorial Day
We will be open for Mysore class on Monday, May 27 at 9am. We will be closed that evening in observance of Memorial Day.

Moon Days

Starting June 2013, we will begin to observe Moon Days at the studio. Our next moon day is Saturday June 8th and Monday June 23. Click here for more info on Moon Days.
